About Larson's Cycle Inc.

Larson's Cycle Inc. has been a family owned and operated business for over 60 years. Larson's Cycle Inc. began in the mid 50s when Milton Larson, then operating an auto repair facility began selling Matchless and Royal Enfield. With this start, Milt expanded his auto repair  he'd begun in the 40's in downtown Cambridge. Barney Larson came on board shortly after, 1963 was a BIG year as Triumph, BSA, Honda and Yamaha all came to be, and auto repair was no more. Some of the more unique brands to grace our store thru the 50's into the 60's were Zundapp, Montesa, AJS (some of these were short lived), but the first "real" competition bike to come was Bultaco in 1965, these would stick with us until 1975.

Milt & Evie Larson

Milt and Barney soon established themselves as involved and aggressive, "not popular with the other dealers" in the Metro and surrounding, developed a reputation of the place to beat for best in pricing and availability. "The Shop" as it was referred to, was a bench racing haven for many during the Firday/Satuday's and became a ritual for many. In 1966, a 2nd shop opened in St. Paul for a couple of years, where Triumph, Bultaco, and Yamahas were sold. It proved to be too much for this small family and a choice was made to anchor in Cambridge and sell off the St Paul Franchises. Other Key Brands for us were Husqvarna in 1968 and Penton in 1969, hard to imagine how important these brands would become in shaping us even to this day. We've also had Ducati, CAN-AM (motorcycles) and BMW to mention a few others.

Larson's has always been involved in the race community as well, Barney was one of the founding members of the Norsemen Motorcycle Club along w several other prominent riders of the Minnesota Scene. Shaping Racing and Rules, helping to form what is now the District 23.

Milton retired in 1974 at which time Barney took over. Mike and John Larson were already hands on and had been for a few years, familiar with set up/service/ doing all the schools offered by the mfg's, moving to parts, then to sales shortly thereafter, Mike has been the buyer since 1987, In 1997, Larson's Cycle Inc. expanded and moved from its Adams Street location to its current location on Garfield Street. Barney and Karen Larson owned and operated Larson's Cycle, until late 2000 when we became incorporated,  at which time, Mike & John Larson, became 50/50 partners who both began working there in the late 60's. Mike's daughter, Jessia, joined Larson's Cycle Inc. in 1996. Sadly, John suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in 2006.
